Lisa is an Austin native. Upon graduation from Anderson High School and the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, she began practicing as a registered nurse in a variety of areas including med-surg, oncology, pediatrics and pediatric oncology. She worked in several states across the country. In 1990, Lisa found her niche in labor and delivery. She feels that helping families through the life changing event of childbirth and being an integral part of this event is one of the most rewarding parts of her nursing career, she longed to be involved in women's healthcare to a much deeper extent. In 1997 Lisa graduated from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing, a community based nurse midwifery education program, then began her career as a Certified Nurse Midwife.
Lisa has practiced as a Certified Nurse Midwife in multiple settings. She worked in two free-standing birth centers and for a large multi-specialty doctor's group, caring for women of all ages, before coming to work with Dr. Thompson. Although obstetrics was her motivation to become a Nurse Midwife, she has found that caring for women outside the childbearing years is equally challenging and rewarding. She is an active member of the American College of Nurse Midwives.
Lisa's husband and three children occupy her spare time. They enjoy soccer and other after school activities.
